"Fiction gives us empathy: it puts us inside the minds of other people, gives us the gifts of seeing the world through their eyes. Fiction is a lie that tells us true things, over and over."

"It seems that when you want to make a woman into a hero, you hurt her first. When you want to make a man into a hero, you hurt… also a woman first."

Our epic road trip! Thanks for sharing it with me through all those pictures—we had a great time out there!

We had a gorgeous last morning in Southern Oregon, complete with lemon ricotta French toast (I’m not kidding) and a stroll around a picture perfect small town surrounded by lush green hills and sparkling vineyards. Then we headed south and into California, playing hide and seek with the proud thrust of gorgeous Mount Shasta as we made our way through winding mountain roads thick with evergreens and moody clouds. Then the long, long stretch of the rich Central Valley. Our ten hour drive turned into more like twelve thanks to construction on the Grapevine (nice welcome home there, Los Angeles!) and it got a little crazy there in our hardy little car… But we did it. A week long roadtrip came to its end at last and we’re home sweet home, with visions of all the places we’ve been dancing in our heads…
